The Toronto Zoo is home to some 16,000 animals. Yet, despite this diversity, it’s not seen as having anything new to offer visitors. So when the zoo launched a new endangered African Penguin exhibit, we had to get the news out about these adorable creatures, and get people to come back to the zoo to visit them. So we created a website where the penguins would help you send messages to your friends through social networks and email, by spelling out words with their cute bodies. This banner drove to that site, and replicated much of its functionality in less than 40k. A fun online toy, the banner spread awareness of the new exhibit, and reminded people just how how fun it would be to visit the real penguins at the zoo.
